The Carrom is an indian skill and precision game where players, using a Striker, try to bring their pawns into the corners of the plateau before their opponents, while covering the Queen to win the part.
The Carrom is a traditional South Asian address game, very popular in India, Sri Lanka and many other countries. It is played on a smooth wooden square plateau, pierced with four holes in the corners, called pockets.
Two or four players compete to propel wood pawns (black and white) in these holes using a striker, a larger disk used to hit the pieces.
Each player has his color and tries to pocket all his pawns before the opponent. In the center of the plateau is the queen, a red pawn that brings extra points if it is pocked and covered by a pawn of its own color during the same lap.
The game requires great accuracy, good command of the gesture and a fine strategy, because you have to manage the rebounds, the trajectories and the position of the opponents.
Mixture of tactics, concentration and reflexes, the Carrom is both a friendly and competitive game, practiced both in family and in international tournaments under the auspices of the International Federation of Carrom (ICF).
